Stewart Park covers about 120 acres and consists both of mature woodland and arboretum on the southern side, with open parkland on the northern side. Two sets of lakes provide habitat for our water fowl.

A big favourite with all the family is our extensive pets corner with many types of domesticated animals, fallow deer, highland cattle, llamas and goats.

Our nature, heritage, orienteering and tree trails are provided within the Park, which are popular with school visits.

The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum is set in the grounds of Stewart Park, and traces the life of Captain James Cook, the world´s most famous explorer. Born in 1728 it provides a unique insight into his early life, seafaring career, the legacy of his voyages and experience life below decks for a sailor of the 18th century. On display are charts from his voyages, descriptions of the flora and fauna, and the wonderful sights he found on his adventures. Audio-visual presentations, hands-on interactive displays and original objects are interesting and fun for all ages. There is a temporary exhibition gallery with a regular programme of events.
